– Driven Content for R Users

Hi my name is Lindsay. 👋

I hope you’re thriving in your professional world.

I’m excited to share a little about my recent experiences that have been both surprising and affirming.

My journey to amp up my LinkedIn presence took an interesting turn when I started analyzing my LinkedIn activity with R – my favorite tool for analyzing any and everything data!

R: my favorite Tool for data analysis

This exploration into the numbers and patterns of my LinkedIn posts were eye-opening, helping me see exactly what grabs people’s attention.

This shift to a more data-savvy approach paid off—understanding which posts perform best allows me to optimize my content strategy, increase engagement, and build a stronger personal brand.

It was a satisfying sign that my hard work was making waves.

The first sign that others were taking notice came directly from LinkedIn itself—a direct message from Hien Mai, a product marketer on the platform.

Hien reached out with a nod to my engaging posts and even offered some topic suggestions for future content, which was incredibly encouraging:

I was ecstatic when I received this DM from LinkedIn – My little no -nothing account gaining traction? 😊

But the surprises didn’t end there.

On a different occasion, LinkedIn sent me an email—the kind that makes you do a double-take.

It said, “Lindsay, you’re getting noticed.”

I am no content/copy writer – just an ordinary guy trying to build connections with R and LinkedIn data.

Note: 46 profile views in the above email.

Fast forward…

158 profile viewers and climbing

That simple subject line was a clear signal that the changes I’d made were having an impact.

Now, I am no:

  • top content producing
  • LinkedIn superstar

like Justin Welsh – creator of the LinkedIn Operating System.

But, I did take heed his advice:

Promote yourself online every single day:

  • Your work
  • Your brand
  • Your opinions
  • How you think

People will either:

  • Love you (customers)
  • Hate you (who cares)
  • Join you (network)
  • Follow you (students)
  • Ignore you (already are)

This is what it is all about.

Promoting yourself so opportunity FINDS YOU!

And that simple subject line “Lindsay, you’re getting noticed.” was a clear signal that I was successfully promoting myself on LinkedIn and the changes I’d made were having an impact.

And yet another LinkedIn email that my posts received 2,349 impressions last week.

The highest number of views I’ve received from my LinkedIn posts thus far for this particular the week!

4/19/2024 impressions/views: 2628. 7pm cst impression cutoff dropped to 2151

But this success was short lived…

You see, LinkedIn’s algorithm reared it’s ugly head.

The LinkedIn algorithm is unforgiving.

LinkedIn giveth….LinkedIn taketh away.

But that is part of the game – on the road to building a personal brand via social media.

All and all my goal, for now, is to to build my personal brand and connections with R and LinkedIn data and share what I learn along the way.

The encouraging words from LinkedIn’s staff and their email are more than just personal milestones—they show the power of data in making a digital mark.

I’m looking forward to pushing this journey further and would love to connect with anyone interested in exploiting data to sharpen their LinkedIn strategy.

Let’s explore what our data can tell us and use it to shape our professional narratives.

Warm Regards,
